Join local beekeeper Mark Hilyard as he speaks to the process and pitfalls of beekeeping in Portsmouth.
This year our national holiday occurs on Friday, July 4, 2025. Join fellow citizens at 9:00 A.M. on the grounds of Portsmouth Free Public Library to read aloud portions of our nation’s founding document, the Declaration of Independence, adopted unanimously by a fledgling Congress 249 years ago on July 4, 1776. Copies will be available or bring your own.

FreshMaps and the Battle of Rhode Island Association have created a “Revolutionary RI History Hunt” series - a smartphone/ mobile app digital scavenger hunt map which brings you to six locations in Portsmouth to learn about local American Revolution history, right where it happened!
