Cribbage

Now is your chance to improve your skill at cribbage!  Join experienced cribbage player Carol at Portsmouth Free Public Library and play with others, newcomers and more experienced players alike.  Crbbage boards and cards are provided, you provide the fun.  This card game uses strategy and decision-making abilities and has roots dating back to the 1600's.  Registration is requested. 

Oscar Miller (1867-1921) Presentation

Oscar Miller was an artist with an international reputation who painted over 1500 works.  He had several studios including one in the Bristol Ferry area of Portsmouth.  A small selection of his paintings are being exhibited by his grandson August Miller among others during the month of January.  August Miller will give a short presentation about his talented grandfather.

Intro to Embroidery for Adults with Karen Katin

Would you like to learn a new fiber arts skill to keep you busy on these cold winter evenings?  Join Karen Katin from The Stitchery to learn how to embroider!  You will learn the differences between various styles of embroidery, how to use embroidery floss, several different image transfer techniques, how to work in a hoop, 4 foundation stitches, and how to design your very own piece of hoop art.

Fiber Arts Fridays

Are you a knitter? Crocheter? Someone who enjoys embroidery, needlepoint, or spinning? Join us on the first Friday of every month for a makers social. Bring your WIP and a beverage of choice and enjoy a dedicated hour with others to work on your project. No registration required. Be sure to bring a friend!
