A View of Portsmouth, 1898-1932, with Town Historian James Garman

This view of Portsmouth is a presentation by James Garman as glimpsed through the diaries of Abby A. Sherman who was the wife of Benjamin C. Sherman and the mother of former State Senator and Portsmouth Town Clerk Arthur Sherman. Abby kept a detailed diary from 1898 to 1932.  She died in1933 at the age of 86.  Her fascinating diary during those years was a record of a lot of activities back then.  Photographs of Abby's family and views of the town during her lifetime enhance this talk.
