Co-sponsored by the Library and the Portsmouth Historical Society, Town Historian Jim Garman will give a lecture titled “Last Call: The beginning of Prohibition” with emphasis on the local aspect of “The Noble Experiment”. The photograph of the boat is the seized rum-runner “Black Duck” which is central to the local Prohibition story. The date of this talk is carefully chosen because it commemorates the night Prohibition went into effect at midnight exactly 100 years ago on that date.
This program is free and open to the public but seating is limited. Please sign up below or call the Library at 683-9457 to reserve your seat.
