All About Raptors

Educators from the Norman Bird Sanctuary are coming to teach us all about raptors!  Learn about the special adaptations that raptors employ for maximum hunting efficiency.  This presentation describes the differences between different groups of raptors, such as hawks and falcons, and highlights local species.  

From Earth to the Moon for Kids

July 20, 2019 marks the 50th anniversary of the first humans landing on the Moon as part of NASA's Apollo 11 lunar mission.  Join Renée Gamba, Director of the Museum of Natural History and Planetarium, to learn about NASA's past lunar missions, and what future plans it may have for the Moon. This family fun program includes engaging hands-activities to learn about our Earth and its nearest neighbor in space! Make craters, learn about moon phases, and more! 

Sewing with Karen Katin

Learn everything you need to know to safely and confidently use a sewing machine in this introductory class with Karen Katin from The Stitchery! All materials will be provided to make a simple project. No experience or machine necessary, use one of our 8 Brother sewing machines.

Star Gazing

All ages - Come see the night sky! We will have telescopes and volunteers will be on hand to point out objects in the night sky.  There will be activities in the library as well.  Program will be canceled if it rains.  Please register for this free program for all ages so we have enough supplies for all who attend.  

Tween Glow in the Dark T-shirts

Sorry! This event is now full.  Tweens, this one is just for you!  Design your own t-shirt using our glow in the dark vinyl.   Bring a washed t-shirt.  Registration is required as space is limited for this free program for those entering 4th grade to 7th grade in the fall.  Registration begins June 17th.   

Fly Tying Workshop with Scott Travers

Scott Travers from the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management, Division of Fish and Wildlife, is hosting a FREE fly tying and fly fishing event.  Participants will learn to make their own fresh water flies over a couple of sessions then have the opportunity to fish using the flies they created at a private fly fishing event in Rhode Island. This course is geared towards novices and experienced fly tiers alike. 

Friday = Fun Day!

No School Today!  Drop in to the Children's Room and construct your own kaleidoscope.  Free Friday Fun!  For children in grades K-5 (Sorry! this project is too demanding for our preschool friends)
