The Photo Angel - How One Woman is Reuniting Ancestors with Their Descendants

Join us for an enlightening hour with Kate Kelley, a teacher who in her spare time scours flea markets and antique shops looking for old photos for sale. Using a variety of methods, Kate finds living descendants and relatives of the subjects of the photos and reunites them with their families. Soon to be featured on The Today Show, and previously featured on Chronicle and in the Boston Globe among other news outlets, it is a treat to welcome Kate to our library to share some of her treasures. Registration required. 

Troop Meeting

We are looking for a location to have our troop meetings over the winter, as we have been meeting outside since March.

Girl Scout Troop 730 will meet in the program room to work on different badge activities.

Halloween Movie Night: Halloweentown

Happy Halloween from the Children's Room! We are pleased to announce that Friday, October 29, 2021, we will be hosting a movie night in the Program Room. Popcorn and small candy bags will be provided and we will be watching Halloweentown (View Parent's Guide here.) Masks are required for children 2-12 and unvaccinated children and adults 12 or older. Please feel free to wear Halloween cosutmes or Halloween themed PJ's!

Are You Ready for the College Admission Process?

Free presentation to assist high school students and their families with the stressful and sometimes overwhelming college admission process. Join Anne Clawson and Diane DelGreco, who have over fifty years of college admission experience, as they cover a range of topics in an entertaining and interactive format. The audience will have the opportunity to serve as the “admission committee” and issue admission decisions on sample college applications! In addition, they will cover a range of topics including:
• How to develop a list of potential colleges.

The Conspiracy to Destroy the Gaspee by Dr. John Concannon

The Portsmouth Historical Society in cooperation with the Portsmouth Free Public Library will host Gaspee Historian Dr John Concannon, who will present a lecture titled “The Conspiracy to Destroy the Gaspee”. Learn why the June 9, 1772 burning of the schooner Gaspee in Warwick, RI is considered the first spark of the American Revolution, and the event’s connection to Prudence Island, Bristol and Warren.
