Join Gerald LePage, Information & Referral Specialist with Child & Family, at 6:30 at the Library to hear about the many programs that Medicare beneficiaries may not know about such as assistance with the costs of Medicare premiums and prescriptions. The Medicare Improvements for Patients and Providers Act of 2008 (MIPPA) has provided financial assistance to over 2 million low-income Medicare beneficiaries. These benefits allow low-income people to lead healthier, more independent lives, e.g. to afford healthier food choices, home care, and the like. The Low Income Subsidy (LIS), also known as “Extra Help”, helps people with Part D premiums as well as prescription costs. Find out more about the many benefits of Medicare in this informative presentation.
